Younger me

You say, I only hear what I want to–and I do. You can’t hear it but I do. And that’s because I love green a little too much. I’m a writer, but also a dreamer, and I have to admit that the copy editor in me is always at work. When I’m outside, you’ll find me with a camera in hand. One eye is always wide open with fascination at the world around me, while the other is trained on the people around me who I suspect are out to get me. I love and fear God, but He’s still trying to get things through my thick noggin. Seattle rocks, but norcal is home–Sactown pride! Cake sings all about it, and even has a song called “Arco Arena.”

And what exactly does “taffystay” mean? The most unusual guess I’ve heard is that I have a dog named Taffy and I like to tell him to stay. Um. No. “Taffy” and “Stay” are two songs by the my favorite singer, Lisa Loeb. She’s famous (but not too crazy famous), but she’s well-known enough for her to have concerts for me to attend. She has some pretty nifty glasses, too.

Here are a couple of not-so-known facts about me:
1. I’m a fan of Meteor Garden and America’s Next Top Model
2. I like peeling skin bubbles between my toes
3. I like the feeling of mud squishing under my feet
4. I can inspect my plants for growth everyday and never get tired of it
5. I like the smell of my own farts but hate that of others (and that, my dear friends, is the origin of STYNKBG)
6. I dream of having a yarn/bookstore where people can hang out and knit/read
7. I like to point out inconsistencies in spacing between letters/words
8. I like Oh Boy Oberto beef jerky and like to peel the thin layer of “skin” off the jerky stick to eat it first
9. I have a list of things to do before I turn 30, and I think I’m almost there
10. I really want a daughter named Madeline Zoe, and I want her to act like Mulan

If you have a tidbit about me that you’d like to share, leave a comment. If what you say is true, I’ll buy you a Top Pot donut and a pat on the back.

That means you’re my #1 fan, Kevin! And since you’re my #1 fan, that means you must be a fan of everything I am, which ultimately means you love the Kings. I knew it!

My dear you are jaded. I’m a fan of my friends wife, but I am surely no fan of those Cow-Tippin’ Kings. Even after they move to Vegas I still will not like them! You need to realzie that deep inside your heart, you are a Laker Lover. You married Matt. According to the Bible you are ONE now. That means you joined Matt as a big Laker fan.

Hi, how are you?
I just opend this.
So I leave to do that.
For the first time,I noticed that you want a “daughter”.
My daughter loves all of female character in Disney.
Especially “Princess”!
So she met “Mulan” in Disney Land of LA on the other day. (There isn’t the corner to meet princess in TDL. We can just meet “Cinderella” in the parade.)
So I hope,no,
I think that you will meet your “Mulan” soon!
P.S.
Thank you for your card. I got it!

First off…you rock — and and big hi-fives for maintaining your thoughts online for so many years. For people who me who have an aversion to follow through (if that’s what you call it) and the inability to do the things that count to maintain relationships - it is always nice to keep in contact from a distance (which is why I really like that I can be up at any awful hour of the day to see how people I care about are doing. Sorry for not keeping in touch better than I should. I hope you are well. Best to you and Matt - The other flower in the sun :)

P.S. You totally reminded me of how much I like Cake, too! Right on!!!

the picture of meleelee in my mind will always be the cute shorty in a sunflower dress with the big contrasting backdrop of VHS, and the song that plays in my head is always the same one… ‘You said that I was naive, and I thought that I was strong….’ from your more recent pictures you look different, much more ‘grown.’ you were always the young’un plus the baby face, but i think the women look suits you well, at least it suits that old soul (not to be confused with old spirit) that you’ve always had well.

i got engaged at the end of last year. it’s crazy, it wasn’t in my plans, but it’s going great. times like these make me think of old friends, and it’s good to find you here still. seattle huh? getting farther and farther away there girlie, but good to know you still call sac home. i was hoping your ‘about me’ page would give some more detail updates on your (because my reading capacity does not come close to your writing capability and i can’t catch up with all that blog in a short time). i trust that life is treating you well though, and you look very happily married. i just wanted to say hello. you be good now, take care. :)
